Chelsea were ‘lucky’ to beat Atletico Madrid and Blues fans should be ‘worried’ as Champions League display is criticised

Chelsea were ‘very lucky’ to beat Atletico Madrid and Blues fans should be ‘worried’ following their Champions League last-16 victory.

That is the view of talkSPORT co-host Adrian Durham, who was left baffled that the Spanish side were not awarded a penalty in the first-half of their 2-0 victory when Cesar Azplicueta appeared to haul down Yannick Carrasco in the box.

Cesar Azpilicueta was fortunate not to give away a penalty

“Chelsea were very, very lucky last night,” Durham declared on Drive.

“I was bombarded by tweets when I said Atletico would go through.

“They should have been given a penalty – we’re all agreed on that. They’ve had a really big hit of good fortune and they’ve made the most of it so farplay to them.

“I think I’d be worried if I was a Chelsea fan because Atletico have not been playing well and they should have been one down yesterday.

“I don’t think it’s perfect from a Chelsea point of view but they got through and that’s what matters.”

“He suffers a little bit with our style, he needs to adapt to the structure and be more reliable with the ball,” said Tuchel.

“And he needs to find a better rhythm when to take the risk and not to take the risk but I am super happy. This was reliable from him.

“He is a hard-working guy up front and I am happy that he could finish the transition with Kai (Havertz) and Timo (Werner), the three were all involved and it was a nice and decisive goal.”
