John Stones Ready For Arsenal Move
England Internatiinal and Manchester City defender, John Stones, is ready to talk to Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, over a possible move in January, According to the UK Sun reports.
John Stones, the England has failed to win Pep Guardiola’s trust during his three-and-a-half years at manchester city.
Guardiola has how ever instead preferred to play midfielder Brazilian Fernandinho ahead of him in heart of central defence.
Arteta who left City for the Emirates in December, is in the market for defensive reinforcements, with Calum Chambers ruled out until next season.
It is understood that Stones would be interested in talking to the Gunners.
The England international is looking to secure regular game time ahead of Euro 2020.
Stones has made just ten Premier League appearances this season, and his starting spot in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Aston Villa came after he failed to even make City’s squad in their previous five matches.
The Sun claim Mikel Arteta wants to raid his former club to bring Stones in, as he looks to strengthen his defence this month, even if it’s only on loan.
The report has been met with some reservations from supporters, with many questioning if the England international would be the right defensive partner for David Luiz considering both players have a reputation for blundering at the back.
But Parlour has cast those doubts aside and says it would be an excellent signing for his former club.
“I’d be very, very happy if they brought someone like John Stones to the club,” he said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“He would definitely play. With Calum Chambers out and Rob Holding in the background, if one of Luiz or Sokratis get injured Arsenal haven’t got a lot of back-up at centre half.
