 Nigerians React As UBA Sacks 2000 Workers

Many Nigerians have reacted angrily over the news that broke out this January 2020 that UBA sacks 2000 workers Including its staffs Nation wide.

United Bank of Africa workers were sacked at the beginning of January 2020. Which the banking institution has not come with a reason for its labour action, according to an insider of the bank he said that the old staff relieved of the duty to accommodate new ones.

According to the bank, in a statement signed by its Head, External & Media Relations, Mr. Ramon Nasir, said 5,000 staff were promoted to new grades as their salaries were also upgraded with immediate effect this January.

Those who are beneficiaries of this exercise will receive up to 170% increase in their salaries and benefits.
The upgrade and employment must have been the main reason behind the laying off thousands of staff inexplicably just few days after New Year.

This labour exercise have keep many Nigerians kicking and giving up on the banking sector. Many took to their social media handle to lament of this emergency action by the Bank.
