Michael Carrick could be without Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nemanja Matic and Luke Shaw for his final game as Manchester United caretaker manager versus Arsenal on Thursday.

After incoming interim manager Ralf Rangnick finally got his work permit issued on Wednesday evening, the German will take over the reins from Carrick for Sunday’s fixture against Crystal Palace.

Before that though, Carrick will end his brief stint in the United hot seat with the visit of the Gunners to Old Trafford as he looks to keep his unbeaten record as a manager intact.

However, he may have to do so without some key players, with United already carrying a fairly lengthy injury list.

Wan-Bissaka and Matic both played the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea

Rangnick’s brief will be to stabilise the team and aim for a top-four finish before he ends his tenure at the end of the season and starts a consultancy role.

“I’ll try to make the most of it,” Carrick told MUFC of Thursday’s game. “But actually it’s about the players, the team and getting the right result.”
