Watch Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Real Madrid host Liverpool on Tuesday night in the Champions League quarter-finals, though the match will be hosted at Castilla’s stadium, the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, rather than the Santiago Bernabeu which is undergoing construction work.

Confirmed line-ups

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Jota

Real Madrid XI: Courtois, Militao, Nacho, Mendy, Vazquez, Vini Jr, Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Asensio, Benzema

Eden Hazard is also out of the squad, so it will be Marcos Asensio and Vinicius providing support for Karim Benzema up front.

Klopp knows all about central defensive problems this season, and he has the inexperienced duo of Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips at the heart of his backline.

1* – kick-off the match is underway now

5* – Casemiro puts his head in where it is likely to hurt, but evades Keita’s high boot and even wins the ball.

It ushers plays through to Benzema, who is afforded room to turn and get the game’s first shot away. It’s straight at Alisson.

24*– GOAL!!

30 –What’s the Spanish for route one?

There appears no danger when Toni Kroos collects the ball deep in his own half, but the German looks up and plays a beautiful 60-yard pass over the top to dissect the Liverpool defence.

36* – Goal!!!! Real have a second, and it is really no surprise!

It again stems from a long pass over the top from Kroos, but this one should be easily dealt with by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

42* —Jurgen Klopp’s not waiting until half-time, he’s making a change now.

Whether it’s enforced due to injury or tactical, I don’t know, but Thiago is on for Naby Keita.

It’s safe to say the experiment with Keita playing in midfield has not worked.

It’s been 45 minutes to forget for Liverpool. If their defence has been culpable, then their forwards have been completely anonymous.

54* – Liverpool have their tails up, and a brilliant cross from Alexander-Arnold finds Jota at the far post.

The former Wolves man meets the delivery with a header, but can’t get enough direction on it to force Courtois into action.

58* – . A couple of big blocks from Phillips and then Thiago keep Real at bay as the home side threaten to up the pressure once again.

65* – GOOAALLL!!

74* – That third Real Madrid goal has restored the home side’s control of the game. Gone is the attacking intensity that Liverpool had shown after half-time.

79* –  Zinedine Zidane watches on from the touchline as his players enjoy a spell of keep ball. I can’t actually remember the last time Liverpool were in possession

82* – They still haven’t touched it.

It’s advantage Real Madrid after the first leg in Spain. Liverpool were better in the second period, but were unable to build on Mohamed Salah’s goal shortly after the restart. Vinicius Junior added his second and Real’s third soon after, and head to Anfield with a two-goal lead. It will be a big ask for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
